During an interview with Fox News for the season finale of “Homeland” (one more day!), the co-anchor rushed to the hospital for the birth of his child. Patinkin was beside himself with excitement. He shrieked, “Mazel Tov!” which I chose to read as a quiet homage to Bill Hader’s brilliant impersonation of Saul on SNL. The other anchor attempted to steer the conversation back to “Homeland,” but Patinkin wouldn’t have it. “To hell with me,” he declared, “let’s cut away to the hospital!” And then, just as the subject turned to the mysterious body bag seen in the finale promo, Patinkin once again interrupted gleefully to demand to know if it was a boy or a girl.
